SharpCam

Hardware Requirements

• Minimum 1GB of RAM.
• Minimum 2.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4 (or equivalent) processor.
  Solid Simulation of large and complex parts may require more RAM and a faster processor.
If unsure please download and install the demonstration version before purchasing SharpCam. This will ensure problems and disappointment are avoided.

• A mouse with a middle button and wheel is recommended, but not essential.
• A monitor that supports a minimum resolution of 1280 x 1024 is recommended, but not essential.
• SharpCam will only run on a single monitor system and will not run on dual monitor systems.
• Serial Port - if using SharpCam for RS232 communications:
  USB to Serial Port adaptors - These adaptors are just not reliable enough and therefore do not meet the hardware requirements for use with SharpCam.
  Laptops - are not fitted with a serial port anymore.
  If the laptop is fitted with a PCMCIA slot (also known as PC Card) then a PCMCIA to RS232 Serial Port adapter is required. Ensure drivers are available for your version of Windows.
  If the laptop is fitted with an ExpressCard slot, then an ExpressCard to RS232 Serial Port adapter is required. The adaptor should implement UART 16C750. Some adaptors are based on an USB interface and therefore do not meet the hardware requirements. Ensure drivers are available for your version of Windows.
  Desktop - not all new computers are fitted with a serial port. This can be easily remedied by fitting a RS232 serial port card into a spare expansion slot.

Minimum Operating System Requirements

Microsoft Windows XP with service pack 2 or higher.

Supported Operating Systems

Server versions

SharpCam has not and will not be tested on server versions of Windows, but will possibly run on:

• Windows Server 2003
• Windows Server 2008

32 and 64 bit systems

SharpCam will run on 32 and 64 bit systems.

Internet

An internet connection is recommended, but not essential. With an internet connection SharpCam can be automatically updated to newer versions.

Activation

An internet connection makes activation easier, but is not essential. If an internet connection is not available on the PC on which SharpCam is to be installed then access to a PC with e-mail is required. Also the facility to transfer files to and from the PCs is required.
